The Brac Island Museum, founded in 1979, is located in Skrip, the oldest settlement on the island. The name Scrip originates from the Latin noun scrupus, which means “sharp, huge stones”, as it is here, in the hinterland of Roman quarries. At the site of the Illyrian walls, the Roman mausoleum was erected, and then the defensive fort Radojković, which today represents the museum of the island of Brac with interesting exhibits from the cave, Roman tombstones, sea charts and various wedding crafts. This gem of cultural heritage of the island of Brac is always a welcome destination.
